At Cleveland Clinic, we are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up sterile tables, ensuring all necessary supplies, medications, and equipment are available.
  • Participate in counting sponges, instruments, and other materials during surgical procedures.
  • Assist in draping patients and ensuring aseptic conditions are maintained throughout the procedure.
  • Provide support to the surgical team, including gowning and gloving.
  • Collect and label specimens removed during surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate surgical and clinical schedules in an Ambulatory setting.
  • Assist with outpatient clinic flow, patient education, and orientation of new hires.
  • Work on unit committees and participate in marketing and practice development.
  • Perform post-op phone calls and relay information to providers.
  • Scribe for providers in outpatient clinics.

Education and Certifications:

  • Completion of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through CAAHEP or ABHES is required. Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and establish courteous and cooperative relations with patients and others.

Work Experience:

  • No prior experience is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds, and pushing and pulling supply carts weighing over 75 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
