Job Title: Environmental Scientist/Ecologist Project Manager

About the Role:

Freese and Nichols, Inc. is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist/Ecologist to join our team in Houston, TX. As a key member of our environmental team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects for federal, state, and local government clients, as well as private sector clients throughout Texas and the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide technical leadership and project management on planning and permitting projects for clients
* Develop and deliver written reports and technical memorandums
* Oversee Quality Assurance/Quality Control of team member's work
* Serve as a technical resource and coordinate workload throughout project development
* Support and lead field work, including waters of the US (WOTUS) delineations, habitat assessments, and vegetation mapping
* Interact with federal, state, and local government agencies to understand regulatory requirements
* Present at technical conferences
* Familiarity with federally listed species and Endangered Species Act requirements
* Coordinate with internal and external design engineers and stakeholder groups
* Prepare NEPA documentation (CEs, EAs, and EISs) and knowledge of the NEPA process

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, Rangeland Ecology, or similar ecological field
* 6+ years of experience
* Ability to utilize software including Microsoft Office products
* Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* M.S. degree in similar ecological field
* Familiarity with federally listed species in Texas
* Familiarity with coastal resources and issues in Texas and other U.S. Gulf States
* Experience leading a team of scientists
