Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Financial Strategist to join our team as the Chief Financial Officer. This is a key leadership role that requires strong financial management skills, strategic thinking, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight and management of the agencies' multi-billion-dollar budget, ensuring effective financial planning and reporting.
  • Formulate financial management goals and priorities, supporting the Commissioner and executive leadership team with ongoing counsel and advice on all financial and budgetary matters.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve organizational objectives, collaborating with other departments and stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain liaison with executive level staff from various public, private, and community agencies involved with the DSS-HRA-DHS, allocating resources to Inter-Agency projects as necessary.
  • Represent DSS-HRA-DHS before the City Council and other legislative bodies, as well as with federal and state authorities involved in or providing oversight of Agency activities.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a closely related field.
  • Two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management.
  • 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity, including supervision of staff performing professional work in these areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Analytical skills, comfortable taking in data from diverse departments to identify problems and implement solutions.
  • Leadership skills, able to manage time wisely, inspire others, delegate tasks, motivate employees, and make good decisions.
  • Risk assessment skills, able to identify risk easily and find ways to mitigate it before it reaches crisis levels.
  • Communication skills, able to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

Salary Range

$165,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
