Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of Hunger Prevention and Children's Services, this multifaceted role involves:

  • Coordinating Hunger Prevention initiatives and managing volunteers to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Overseeing inventory management for Hunger Prevention programs, including storage and stocking.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of Children's Services programs such as Tools for School, Car Seats, Coats for Kids, and holiday initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote wellness through nutrition education and outreach.
  • Manage program databases and collaborate with the Director to regularly share utilization data with staff.
  • Maintain food storage and program areas to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Receive and unload deliveries, handling items up to 70 lbs.
  • Document and report food inventory activities, including donations and orders.
  • Ensure confidentiality and dignity in service delivery to all participants.
  • Administer the DoubleUp Food Bucks program.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar for Children's Services, providing updates to staff and community partners.
  • Process applications for Children's Services programs.
  • Coordinate in-kind donations for programs.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for Hunger Prevention and Children's Services.
  • Operate organizational vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Conduct community Food Rescue pick-ups as needed.
  • Gather feedback from participants and volunteers to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Assist with the assembly and delivery of Weekend PowerPack meals.


Supervisory Responsibilities: This role includes volunteer supervision, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and laws. Responsibilities encompass intake, training, placement, and recognition of volunteers.


Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; experience with volunteers and vulnerable populations is essential. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain it.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.


Physical Demands: The role requires frequent standing, lifting, walking, and the ability to lift up to 70 lbs. Regular driving to various locations is also required.


Work Environment: The primary work location is at TrueNorth Community Services, with responsibilities that may require working in various environmental conditions.
