Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Arcetyp LLC is a dynamic and growing small business that provides a wide range of consulting services to US Federal Government, US Military, and Commercial clients.

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team and lead business development activities for a small government contracting firm focused on IT Services and Cyber Security for clients in Civil and DoD markets.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure patient care is carried out in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Care and the policies and procedures of the clinic.
  • Check patients into the clinic and triage using clinic guidelines.
  • Obtain and document patient and pertinent family history.
  • Perform a full range of diagnostic support duties, including taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and tracking results of diagnostic tools.
  • Assist the physician in diagnostic examinations, such as lumbar punctures, colposcopies, and sigmoidoscopies.
  • Perform laboratory tests, record and report results, and administer medications.
  • Ambulate patients to other areas, prepare patients for tests and examinations, and collect specimens.
  • Prepare, start, monitor, and discontinue intravenous fluids with accuracy and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Observe, report, and document all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient condition.
  • Perform routine nursing care activities, such as taking blood pressures, temperatures, baths, and hygiene care.
  • Operate basic equipment required in delivery of patient care, such as pumps, IV pumps, oxygen administration apparatus, and incentive spirometers.
  • Execute physician's orders within the guidelines of standard nursing practice.
  • Maintain records of nursing care, dose and time of medication administered, and indicate if the medication was not administered and the reason.
  • Administer immunizations in a safe and accurate manner with strict adherence to all Military/Medical and DoD Treatment Facilities and CDC Immunization policies.
  • Recognize emergency situations and assist with, or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients.
  • Perform preoperative procedures for minor surgery and fill out pre-op checklist.
  • Assist patients in admission, transfer, and perform discharge planning follow-up and documentation.
  • Support the patient and/or family members toward the achievement of treatment plan goals.
  • Provide instructions to the patient on invasive procedures, surgical procedures, and post-surgical conditions.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families.
  • Ensure necessary supplies are available and equipment is in functioning order.
  • Provide an orderly, clean, and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Handle telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality.
  • Ensure maintenance and assists with re-supply of pharmaceuticals in the clinic.
  • Ensure upkeep and perform checks of emergency equipment, such as oxygen, emergency cart, suction apparatus, etc., and maintain appropriate logs.
  • Inform the Charge Nurse of any discrepancy on daily checks.
  • Perform additional duties within the scope of LPN practice, including but not limited to, update of Standards of Nursing Care, and other LPN/LVN duties required for efficient, quality patient care.
  • Transport patients to and from other areas of the facility to include hospital clinics and ancillary departments, as ordered by the physician.
  • Assist the professional nurse and/or physician with individual, group, and family health instruction in relation to the patient's condition and his/her ability for self-care.
  • Assist in the dissemination of appropriate literature dealing with subjects related to the particular health problems involved.
  • Assist in providing physical and psychological support to patients, assist in the explanation of procedures and treatment, and promote cooperation among staff, patients, and families.
  • Participate in executing the Emergency Preparedness Plan (drills and actual emergencies) as scheduled by the MTF (typically semiannually).
  • Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program as directed by government supervisor.
  • Participate in the command's Performance Improvement Program.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions.
  • Notify supervisor, director, or other designated person regarding problems that the HCW is unable to manage.
  • Comply with the standards of The Joint Commission, applicable provisions of law, and the rules and regulations of any and all governmental authorities pertaining to licensure and regulation of health care personnel and medical treatment facilities, the regulations and standards of medical practice, and the MTF's medical staff bylaws.
  • Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth.
  • Participate in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members.
  • Provide training and/or direction as applicable to supporting government employees (e.g., hospital corpsmen, students, etc.).
  • Operate and manipulate automated systems, such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander.
  • Attend and participate in various meetings as directed by government supervisor.
  • The HealthCare Worker (HCW) shall comply with the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) privacy and security policies of the treatment facility.
  • Providers shall obtain/maintain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) in accordance with DOD and MTF policy/instruction, as applicable.
  • Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care.
  • Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required.
