Pediatric Anesthesia Specialist - Cardiac Focus

Nemours Children's Hospital is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Anesthesia Specialist to join our esteemed team in delivering exceptional anesthesia care. This role involves working collaboratively with an Anesthesiologist to administer anesthesia to our young patients, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.

The ideal candidate will possess the necessary expertise to provide anesthesia services tailored to the unique needs of neonates, children, and adolescents. Responsibilities include meticulous documentation in the electronic medical record to maintain accurate patient histories.

As part of our commitment to excellence, the Pediatric Anesthesia Specialist will engage in departmental initiatives aimed at Quality Assessment and Process Improvement. This includes identifying areas for enhancement in patient care and implementing strategies aligned with the hospital's objectives.


  • Administers various anesthetic techniques, including general, regional, local, and sedation.
  • Utilizes appropriate monitoring technologies to continuously assess the patient's condition during the perioperative phase.
  • Ensures effective communication during patient handoff to postoperative units, such as PACU or NICU/PICU.
  • Conducts follow-up evaluations and care for patients post-anesthesia.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of anesthetic records in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Assists in the management and upkeep of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborates with anesthesiologists to monitor and enhance the quality of patient care, participating in quality assurance and performance improvement efforts.
  • Operates within the scope of practice as defined by Florida regulations, adhering to personal expertise and hospital policies.
  • Prioritizes patient care and responds effectively to emerging issues.
  • Complies with regulatory standards set by relevant organizations.
