Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Kent Hospital in a temporary capacity. As an Ambulatory Staff Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive patient experience
  • Interpret and enter prescriptions accurately and efficiently
  • Clarify prescription orders with pharmacists and clinicians as needed
  • Label and fill prescriptions for pharmacist verification
  • Perform pharmaceutical calculations and identify medications requiring special storage and handling
  • Prepare medication for delivery to patients and departments
  • Deliver medication to patients within the hospital
  • Answer and resolve inbound inquiries, and provide outbound therapy and medication adherence check-ups
  • Secure refill prescriptions and resolve insurance-related issues
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory, including drug ordering and receiving
  • Communicate directly with patients over the phone to assist with medication awareness and address concerns
  • Manage and update relevant data using database applications
  • Apply observations and recommendations to operational issues, increasing productivity, quality, and customer-service standards
  • Identify trends, resolve problems, and recommend improvements
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives and serve as a value-added business partner to stakeholders
  • Protect organizational value by maintaining confidentiality
  • Stay up-to-date with job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining personal networks
Requirements
  • Registered in the State of Rhode Island as a Pharmacy Technician
  • National certification as a CPhT within 6 months of hire
  • 1+ year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, with 5+ years preferred
