Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician Job Description

At Kent Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Interpret and enter prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
  • Clarify prescription orders with pharmacists and clinicians as needed.
  • Prepare and label prescriptions for verification by pharmacists.
  • Perform pharmaceutical calculations with precision and accuracy.
  • Identify and handle medications requiring special storage and handling.
  • Assemble and prepare medication supplies for patient delivery.
  • Deliver medication to patients within the hospital.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide medication adherence support and education to patients.
  • Secure refill prescriptions and resolve insurance-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and manage pharmacy supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals via phone.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern licensure in the State of Rhode Island.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, with 5+ years preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of computerized information systems and specialty pharmacy reimbursement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with branch departments.
