Job Overview

Harrison Western, a leader in design and construction services for the mining and civil sectors since 1968, is seeking a skilled Shaft/Mine Electrician. This role is critical to our ongoing project at a Department of Energy facility.

Position Summary

The selected candidate will be responsible for executing electrical repairs, installations, inspections, and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment both within the shaft and in surface operations.

Project Details

This project is anticipated to span several years, with positions available based on operational requirements. All work will be conducted at the project site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow instructions from the Master Electrician.
  • Conduct installation and maintenance of electric mining apparatus and infrastructure.
  • Be prepared to work on the Galloway as necessary.
  • Perform troubleshooting on PLCs and circuit boards.
  • Install DC Drives and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Manage the installation of cables and junction boxes within the shaft.
  • Interpret and implement electrical schematics accurately.
  • Handle high voltage installations and switching operations.
  • Assist other team members, including Top landers, Miners, and Mechanics, as required.
Qualifications
  • Ability to take direction effectively.
  • Awareness of safety hazards and risks.
  • Familiarity with necessary tools and equipment.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work in various physical positions.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities.
  • Possession of MSHA Electrical certification.
  • Ownership of personal hand tools.
  • Experience in shaft operations is advantageous.
