Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Faculty, Open Rank to join our team as a Medical Director of Nephrology and Transplant Program Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and growth of our Adult Kidney Transplant program, collaborating with the Medical and Surgical Director of Transplant Services to establish transplant program goals and objectives, and promoting high standards of practice through development of transplant policies, protocols, and practice guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and growth of the Adult Kidney Transplant program
  • Collaborate with the Medical and Surgical Director of Transplant Services to establish transplant program goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement transplant policies, protocols, and practice guidelines
  • Provide physician leadership to the Transplant program's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee
  • Participate in Monthly Program-specific QAPI committee meetings
  • Attend MTI QAPI Committee meetings and participate in process improvement plans
  • Lead efforts to develop and maintain a high-quality inpatient and outpatient clinical program for Kidney disease management, up to and including transplantation
  • Collaborate with all multidisciplinary service lines to help in the care of these patients both pre- and post-transplant
  • Develop and provide input on the development and maintenance of practice guidelines, policies, and methodologies for medical care of these patients
  • Participate in onsite reviews by regulatory agencies and insurance companies
  • Promote research activity within his/her specialty for themselves and other physicians within the MTI, thus enhancing both clinical and academic endeavors/pursuits
  • Organize, direct, and implement departmental practices along with the Medical Director to ensure continued compliance with applicable laws, including the guidelines established by UNOS and CMS for accreditation of the adult Kidney transplant program
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, referral MDs, hospital personnel, and patients/families to achieve maximum operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure medical attending physician availability to render care to our patient population
  • Participate in transplant patient/family satisfaction projects
  • Meetings that must be attended: Selection Committee, High Risk MTI, M&M, and QAPI Transplant Division
  • Participate in the advancement and education of medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Participate in the development and management of new and ongoing clinical trials
Requirements
  • Board certified in Medicine with a completed fellowship in Nephrology and underwent Transplant Fellowship
  • More than 7 years of transplant experience
  • Currently licensed to practice medicine in Florida/Able to obtain licensure in Florida
  • Current Academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Member in good standing with existing organization
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience in Transplantation

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to accept and implement change
  • Ability to problem-solving to make effective decisions
  • Demonstrated history of positive collegial relations with colleagues, support staff, administrators, and patients
