These teams are tasked with delivering outstanding and empathetic primary care while coordinating our members' care with the wider healthcare system.

The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in flexibly assisting our members and their families from their arrival to their departure.

This position may involve front office responsibilities or direct patient care tasks, depending on the needs of the center and its members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet members upon arrival, ensuring they feel welcomed and secure while navigating a smooth check-in process.
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling and referrals for a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Maintain and update member information in the electronic medical records system.
  • Request and upload medical records to the electronic medical records system.
  • Conduct patient intake, including measuring and recording vital signs, interviewing patients, and documenting medical history; perform examinations and routine screenings, ensuring patients are informed and all inquiries are addressed.
  • Actively listen and engage with patients throughout their appointments, reporting any changes in patient conditions to the primary care provider, specialists, or other clinical staff.
  • Handle all tasks with a strong focus on patient experience, including managing incoming calls and processing patient messages, ensuring timely communication.
  • Perform basic first aid procedures, such as changing dressings and applying bandages, under physician supervision.
  • Adhere to OSHA safety standards and maintain accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Assist with center events as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High emotional intelligence and integrity, with a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse populations, including staff, providers, members, and families.
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
  • Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records systems.
  • Professionalism and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Fluency in languages spoken by the communities we serve is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare training required.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Preferred: 6+ months of phlebotomy experience.
  • BLS certification for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Experience with EClinicalWorks or similar EMR systems is beneficial.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is an advantage.
