POSITION SUMMARY
The Civil Engineer specializing in Water/Wastewater will become a vital member of Michael Baker International's Water group. This role involves supporting a diverse range of public and private sector clients with their upcoming projects. The ideal candidate will be part of a well-established team of project managers, engineers, and designers, all committed to excellence and stability. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead exciting multi-disciplinary design projects for municipal clients, private developers, and contractors. Our work often involves design-build and emergency projects, fostering collaboration with owners, contractors, and specialists to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Engage in various water-related initiatives, including the development of water and sewer master plans, pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, tanks, wells, hydraulic structures, and treatment facility designs.
  • Collaborate within a project team, taking responsibility for planning, design development, calculations, presentations, and overall project progression.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater pipelines and pump stations.
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support the planning and design of water and wastewater systems.
  • Draft and review technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, submittals, and other contract documents.
  • Assist in technical marketing efforts during the procurement of key projects.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with project teams, including other disciplines such as cost estimators, GIS specialists, designers, and technical staff.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners on organizational leadership initiatives.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering with a focus on water resources or environmental engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration in California (P.E.) is required.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to work on a variety of projects within the Water and Wastewater Group.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation is necessary.
  • Experience in Hydraulic Modeling of water distribution and sewer collection systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with GIS and other engineering software is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership and active participation in professional or company organizations.
  • Experience in managing and developing junior staff is a plus.
