About Our Opportunity
As a Lead Veterinarian, you will play a key role in leading our veterinary team, providing high-level medical care, and embodying the Chewy Vet Care culture. You will be responsible for implementing policies and procedures, utilizing integrated technology, and delivering consistent and appropriate medical care.
About Your Role
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Serving as a leader of your practice's veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants, setting the bar for providing high-level, competent veterinary medical care.
- Holding all team members accountable to get results by being available, removing barriers and obstacles, facilitating change, and providing coaching/feedback related to performance.
- Implementing outlined policies and procedures, utilizing integrated technology, and delivering consistent and appropriate medical care within the given skill set.
- Performing physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
- Explaining physical examination findings and communicating to the client a diagnosis of the patients' problems; generating and presenting a treatment plan for the patient.
- Maintaining client/patient medical/surgical records and making certain all necessary logs are kept up to date through established protocols.
- Staying up to date with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attending Continuing Education meetings.
- Leading, managing, developing, and mentoring associate veterinarians regarding the improvement of individual performance with respect to client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, record keeping, and efficiency.
- Assisting in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
About You
We are looking for a candidate with:
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD) or equivalent required.
- Active State license in good standing, DEA license, and other state credentials as required.
- 5+ years' experience in general medicine and surgery; 1 - 3 years of leadership experience.
- The ability to collaborate with other veterinary professionals, apply a team-oriented environment, and be passionate about helping people and pets with emotional intelligence and excellent customer service focus.
- The proven ability to multi-task and perform well in a face-paced, self-starter environment.
