Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Area Director to join our team at Joni and Friends. The successful candidate will provide inspirational and operational leadership to the Area Ministry Area Team, overseeing the recruiting, selecting, and equipping of Area Team members and leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Development
    • Provide coaching and development to Area Team leaders
    • Meet regularly with Area Team leaders for coaching and development
    • Meet regularly with the local Ministry Area Team
  • Strategic Planning and Budgeting
    • Establish an annual and long-range strategy and budgets for the Area Ministry office
    • Ensure growth, financial success, and consistent achievement of the Joni and Friends mission, vision, and commission
  • Fundraising and Donor Development
    • Cultivate and maintain a donor base through relationships, partnerships, and fundraisers
  • Communication and Representation
    • Represent the local AM well and communicate effectively with staff, volunteer teams, donors, churches, and community groups on ministry and financial status
  • Human Resources and Personnel Management
    • Recruitment, employment, development, and release of personnel, both staff and volunteers, in conjunction with Human Resource Services
  • Program Development and Participation
    • Participate in local and international Joni and Friends programs
  • Financial Management
    • Ensure that adequate funds are raised and are available to carry out Area Ministry programming and administration
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices
    • Work with the staff in preparing a budget
    • Work with the Development Department to increase funding
Requirements
  • Personal Qualifications
    • Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
  • Professional Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of five years organizational leadership and/or management – or equivalent
    • Proven ability to manage and grow fund development programs for non-profit organizations with budgets of $400,000+
    • Proven success implementing a strategic giving program for major donors
  • Leadership and Development Skills
    • Strong leadership and development experience. Ability to coach, train, and develop personnel
    • Ability to effectively communicate our mission verbally through one-on-one interactions and public speaking opportunities; strong oral/written communication skills
  • Other Requirements
    • Able to travel (internationally and domestically) and work evenings, weekends as needed
    • Solid computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office software
Compensation and Benefits

$84,000 - $92,000 per year (exempt). This is a hybrid position. Remote Wednesdays and Fridays, in office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
