Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at Fayette County Water. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our wastewater treatment plants and collection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants, including servicing of pumps, motors, valves, generators, and pipeline equipment.
  • Collect and analyze wastewater samples, and prepare regulatory reports as required.
  • Monitor and control chemical levels, water levels, and pump operations.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities.
  • Assist in the operation of the county's collection system and satellite wastewater plants as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional trade-specific courses preferred.
  • Class I WW treatment Operators Certificate issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency or ability to obtain within two years of employment.
  • Valid State of Ohio driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in inclement weather.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and make educated decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Class II WW treatment license issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Knowledge of equipment, operations, practices, and safety precautions relevant to wastewater treatment and pumping.
