Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary School Teacher to join our team at West Virginia Department of Education. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our future generations.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
  • Utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction to all students, ensuring they meet the learning objectives and standards for their grade level.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate different learning styles and needs.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the West Virginia Department of Education and board policies.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to support school-wide academic performance goals and instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative and informative testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Maintain a positive role model for students.
  • Support the mission of the school district.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with West Virginia Board of Education Policy 4373 and the student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve Standards of Practice for self and colleagues.
  • Keep informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Adhere to the Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Morgan County School's Policy 3210.
Requirements
  • Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specialization and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2.
  • Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.
  • Meets the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
Work Environment

Most commonly, the educational setting is indoors. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate dB.
