Electrophysiology EP Tech Job Summary

The Electrophysiology EP Tech assumes responsibility for the routine care and maintenance of radiological equipment, as well as quality patient care, maintenance of required cath lab and EP competencies, and assistance in all aspects of invasive or non-invasive cardiac procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explain procedures to patients to alleviate anxiety.
  • Work within a team environment with individuals having similar abilities and responsibilities.
  • Handle emergency situations during high-risk procedures.
  • Interact with physicians during routine procedures, emergencies, and to assist with interpretation of and recording of data collected.
  • Provide primary and critical patient care and administer necessary medications per doctor's orders.
  • Recognize EKG rhythms, including intra-cardiac rhythms.
  • Complete assigned supply ordering, evaluate stocking needs on a daily basis, check expiration dates on medications and on re-usable and disposable items.
  • Assist in transferring patients to and from the Cath Lab for procedures and report to receiving nursing unit all specifics regarding procedure performed.
Requirements
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT), or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
