Job Summary and Qualifications

The Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist is responsible for the routine care and maintenance of radiological equipment, ensuring quality patient care, maintaining required competencies, and assisting in all aspects of invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures.

  • Communicate all procedures to patients to help alleviate anxiety.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment with individuals sharing similar responsibilities.
  • Handle emergency situations during high-risk procedures.
  • Interact with physicians during routine procedures and emergencies, assisting with data interpretation and recording.
  • Provide primary and critical patient care, administering necessary medications as per doctor's orders.
  • Recognize EKG rhythms, including intra-cardiac rhythms.
  • Manage supply ordering, evaluate daily stocking needs, and check expiration dates on medications and items.
  • Assist in transferring patients to and from the Cath Lab for procedures and report specifics to the receiving nursing unit.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Certification as a Registered Radiographer (ARRT), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
