Position: Safety Coordinator
Location: Abilene, TX (ONSITE)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week (including 10 hours of overtime), with a typical start time between 6-8 AM, subject to seasonal adjustments.
Compensation: $34.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Employment Type: Full-time, 6-month contract with potential for permanent placement
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to various job sites as necessary (travel expenses will be reimbursed).
The Safety Coordinator is an entry-level role focused on supporting the implementation of safety protocols to ensure a secure and healthy workplace.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: OSHA 30 Construction Certification and CPR – First Aid Certification.
- Experience: 0 to 1 year of experience in safety within the construction industry, which may include relevant training and education.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct Site Inspections: Regularly perform walk-through evaluations of construction sites, dedicating approximately 80% of your time in the field to audits and crew interactions.
- Hazard Identification and Resolution: Assist in recognizing, documenting, and proposing solutions for hazardous conditions, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Safety Planning Participation: Engage in pre-task planning and safety meetings at job sites.
- Accident Investigation Support: Aid in the investigation of personal injury and property damage incidents.
- Report Preparation: Help compile data, photographs, and other materials; prepare necessary documentation following established procedures and regulations.
- Permit Issuance: Issue entry permits for confined spaces and other required areas.
- Emergency Response Assistance: Support emergency rescue efforts and maintain fire protection and grounding systems.
- Training Facilitation: Conduct awareness-level training sessions and orientation for new hires.
Essential Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and capable of using electronic devices for safety audit software and communication.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Capacity to work under pressure and adapt to changing demands with a positive outlook.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
