About the Role

Chesapeake Climate Action Network is seeking a dedicated and passionate organizer to join our team in Central Virginia. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in building a powerful grassroots movement to fight climate change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Outreach and Volunteer Development: Build relationships with community leaders and inspire them to take action on climate change. Recruit, train, and support volunteers and grassroots leaders to cultivate active teams.
  • Build and Deepen Partnerships and Coalitions: Work closely with existing supporters, community partners, and coalition leaders to advance climate justice issues in the region.
  • Plan and Execute Inspiring Actions and Campaigns: Develop and execute creative actions, media events, and community meetings to mobilize our base and influence decision-makers.
  • Strengthen Membership and Support for Campaigns: Implement CCAN's membership model, deepening relationships with and among supporters and allies in the region.
Qualifications
  • Commitment to fighting climate change and promoting environmental justice.
  • At least one year of community organizing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing across different identities and experiences.
  • Motivated by training and mentoring volunteers.
  • Self-driven and able to work effectively with a team.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize measurable results.
  • Track record of successfully recruiting people to an event, cause, or effort.
  • Experience setting measurable goals and tracking progress.
  • Problem-solver: someone who thinks of solutions more than barriers.
  • A valid driver's license is required for this position.

What We Offer
  • A competitive salary range of $51,500-56,650, commensurate with experience.
  • A generous benefits package, including four weeks of paid vacation, health, dental, and vision insurance, employer-paid life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% employer match after one year of service.
  • A hybrid work arrangement, with two days per week working from our office in downtown Richmond and three days in the field, building our supporter base and developing volunteer leaders in Central Virginia.
