Housing Support Specialist

Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our housing team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
Job Summary:The Housing Support Specialist will oversee the daily progress of participants in their specific housing programs, working closely with the Housing Stabilization & Homeless Outreach Manager and Operations Specialist to create a housing stability plan. This plan will prioritize and enroll participants selected by the Coordinated Entry System into housing programs they qualify for.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the day-to-day needs of enrolled participants, ensuring they meet the goals established in the Housing Stability plan.
- Assist staff to enroll eligible participants into the Step-down Rental Assistance program.
- Responsible for keeping all case files and related purchase orders for participants up to date and accurate.
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and agency policies and procedures for effective implementation of program goals and objectives, including HMIS requirements.
- Attend appropriate training and workshops that are beneficial to the mission of the program.
- Two years of professional or personal experience with homelessness or housing instability, with a strong understanding of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively and empathetically with diverse individuals and stakeholders within the Belknap-Merrimack community.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively within CAPBM.
- Proficiency in using technology and databases for data entry, recordkeeping, and reporting purposes within the Belknap-Merrimack community.
- Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach towards individuals experiencing homelessness within the Belknap-Merrimack community.
- Familiarity with local community resources and service providers in the housing and homelessness sector within the Belknap-Merrimack area.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in working with sensitive client information within CAPBM.
- Ability to work both in the office and in the field, requiring significant time on your feet.
- Strong knowledge of homelessness issues, housing resources, and the Coordinated Entry System within the Belknap-Merrimack community.
