Position Details

Schedule: Full Time, Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

The Recovery Support Specialist embodies the core values and mission of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and compliance with all relevant regulations.

This role utilizes personal experiences and professional training to create a supportive environment for individuals navigating crisis situations. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Recovery Support Specialist employs a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approach, viewing crises as opportunities for growth and learning. Our services aim to proactively prevent crises and reduce the frequency of hospital admissions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as an advocate for individuals in recovery.
  • Leverage personal recovery experiences to offer peer support.
  • Provide information and resources to consumers, ensuring a trauma-informed care approach.
  • Evaluate individual needs, strengths, and goals.
  • Transport individuals to various appointments and engagements as needed.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop personalized recovery plans.
  • Implement rehabilitation services, including case management and skills training.
  • Participate in treatment and discharge planning.
  • Consult with clinical staff regarding assessment and intervention strategies.
  • Facilitate connections with other service providers and community resources.
  • Build partnerships with local agencies to enhance service awareness.
  • Provide on-site support in various healthcare settings.
  • Document all services provided in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records as per established guidelines.
  • Meet productivity expectations aligned with program objectives.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to share personal recovery experiences relevant to supporting individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of auto insurance.
  • Completion of 2,000 supervised work hours required for obtaining Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health-related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with severe mental health or substance use disorders.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid regulations.
  • Knowledge of relevant recovery planning methodologies.
  • Certification as a Recovery Support Specialist.
  • Experience facilitating Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) sessions.
