Position Overview

As a result of our expanding operations, we are looking for a Lead Testing Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on supporting our Client Teams nationwide, particularly in the California region.

With a robust team of over 200 skilled engineers and technicians, TRC is committed to providing comprehensive testing and commissioning services to our Electric Utility Clients. We prioritize safety and efficiency, ensuring that our staff is well-trained and equipped to handle complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and document all phases of commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning, construction, testing, and project closeout, ensuring compliance with TRC and client specifications.
  • Review engineering documents and wiring diagrams prior to project initiation.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and analysis of protection and control systems, addressing any errors or malfunctions.
  • Engage in project meetings to discuss planning, progress, and lessons learned.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing project status, challenges, recommendations, and test outcomes.
  • Assist in the creation of project-specific testing and commissioning plans.
  • Identify potential risks associated with utility systems and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all tests and commissioning activities are conducted according to established plans and that results are accurately documented.
  • Generate and review detailed test reports for various electrical equipment.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Power Systems preferred) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in testing and commissioning services.
  • Ability to interpret construction and manufacturer's drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of electrical protection systems and basic knowledge of AC and DC schematics.
  • Experience with medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies and commissioning processes.
  • Proficiency in using testing software such as Doble Protection Suite and/or ProTest is highly desirable.
  • Must possess valid work authorization in the U.S. and a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients and team members.
