About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Test Engineer to join our team at Medtronic. As a key member of our product design verification and reliability engineering group, you will be responsible for planning and executing product verification and reliability test strategies, developing and implementing testing methods and equipment, and ensuring compliance with Medtronic's quality system elements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute large and complex medical device product development programs, including design verification and reliability test strategy.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering and product development teams to develop and evaluate designs from a design input requirements/design outputs perspective.
  • Develop and implement testing methods and equipment, and ensure compliance with Medtronic's quality system elements.
  • Use statistical techniques and data analysis to inform design decision making and conclusions.
  • Partner with risk management teams to understand essential design outputs/critical to quality attributes.
  • Assist Supplier Quality engineering and purchasing teams in vendor development and component engineering qualification activities.
  • Participate on project teams and technical review boards, and lead change control evaluations.
  • Drive clarity and consistency in documentation.
  • Lead CAPA projects and assist post-market analysis.
  • Participate in support of external and internal regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Drive process improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science with 4+ years of work experience in medical device development and/or development quality.
  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering or Science with 2+ years of work experience in medical device development and/or development quality.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., FDA-regulated).
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, or related.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 14971, 21 CFR 820, IEC 62304, IEC, and MDD.
  • Understanding of the interdependencies of program work products and ability to guide teams in execution strategy and reviewing program work products.
  • Experience with planning and executing design verification testing, test method development, and test method validation.
  • Experienced with statistical analysis of data (e.g., MiniTab, Weibull++, etc.).
  • Experience with DFMEA, Accelerated Life Testing, Risk Analysis, Reliability Growth, and/or Demonstration Testing.
  • Working knowledge of electromechanical devices, battery-powered devices, and/or electrochemical reactions.
  • Ability to author technical reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and work with development and supply vendors to ensure compliance to Medtronic requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate at multiple hierarchal levels in the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet/exceed deadlines, and hold themselves and others accountable.
  • Self-Starter with a sharp focus on quality and customer experience.

Salary ranges for U.S. (excl. PR) locations (USD): $101,152,400.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
