Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Lead Ultrasound Technologist, you will be responsible for coordinating the flow of work, delegating tasks, and guiding staff in carrying out their duties. You will also perform Ultrasound Technologist duties as required and ensure that the department is operating in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the flow of work and delegate tasks to staff members
  • Guide staff in carrying out their duties and ensure that departmental standards are met
  • Perform Ultrasound Technologist duties as required, including operating equipment and producing high-quality images
  • Monitor the quantity and quality of work flow to ensure that work is completed efficiently
  • Ensure that prescribed diagnostic procedures are performed according to departmental standards
  • Recommend personnel actions, including performance appraisals, hiring decisions, and progressive disciplines
  • Assist with monitoring performance improvement plans and ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, and DMC policies
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS) or registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Sonography (S)
  • Abdomen and OB Registry required
  • Two or more years of progressively more responsible Ultrasound Technologist work experience
  • Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS) training required
  • Strong analytical and clinical skills, with the ability to determine the most age-appropriate method of providing requested ultrasound services
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deal effectively with patients and hospital personnel
  • Technical knowledge of ultrasound equipment and supplies, with the ability to operate and utilize equipment to produce high-quality images
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handling multiple and changing priorities
  • Knowledge and understanding of American College of Radiology requirements for accreditation
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients
