Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Diagnostic Ultrasound Exams: Utilize advanced imaging equipment to conduct diagnostic ultrasound exams, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
  • Verify Patient Information: Verify patient identity and review medical records to ensure appropriateness of exams or procedures.
  • Communicate with Patients: Explain procedures to patients, including risks, benefits, and alternatives, and provide post-care instructions.
  • Collaborate with Radiologists: Review images, make initial observations, and communicate data to radiologists to ensure accurate diagnoses.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement: Contribute to process improvement activities within radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, and patient satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS): Registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Sonography (S).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Training: Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) BLS training by end of orientation period.
  • Specialized Skills: Analytical and clinical skills necessary to determine the most age-appropriate method of providing requested ultrasound services, as well as interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and hospital personnel.
