Job Summary

Breg is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health Information Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and indexing patient care documentation within our claims system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain medical records and supporting documentation, utilizing EMR access, technology support software, and traditional medical record requests.
  • Examine documents and determine their proper placement within the paper or electronic record.
  • Utilize critical thinking to complete key job responsibilities, such as medical record retrieval, document labeling, and problem-solving.
  • Examine patient's medical records and verify patient identification.
  • Perform pre-scan validation of new claims and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, timely processing, and revenue recognition.
  • Perform administrative tasks and ensure efficient office operations, including receiving paper claim documentation, scanning claims, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Maintain and ensure HIPAA compliance for patient medical records and personal health information.
  • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly objectives, including claim processing, revenue, and achievement of scorecard expectations.
  • Promote Breg's culture of accountability by demonstrating and exemplifying Breg's cultural beliefs.
  • Support all other medical billing and collection tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1+ year of experience in HIM job-related duties preferred.
  • Previous medical records experience, including EMR navigation, general billing knowledge, CPT, and ICD-10 codes preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard medical terminology, basic human anatomy, orthopedic diagnoses, and medical record format, content, and medical documentation order preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, including web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint capabilities.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and basic maintenance of scanning equipment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional.

Salary/Pay Range: $19.00/hr-$25.00/hr, plus bonus eligibility.

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary/pay across all US locations. Actual pay is based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, work experience, skill set, relevant trainings and certifications, and business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, etc.
