Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Financial Services is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial management of the City of Tamarac. The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance, accounting, and budgeting, with experience in supervising and leading teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee the financial operations of the City, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Supervise and lead a team of financial professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement financial plans and strategies to achieve the City's financial goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective financial management and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the City Commission and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, and budgeting practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in business or public administration.
  • Designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
  • Experience in governmental financial management and reporting.
