We are seeking a highly skilled Unified Communications Network Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing secure communications systems for our nation's defense.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement conferencing and collaboration solutions using commercial and standards-based technologies.
- Develop and deploy unified communications solutions that meet the needs of our nation's decision makers.
- Collaborate with technical specialists to ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to early career staff.
- Document design decisions and present outcomes to sponsors and the technical community.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor's degree in information science and technology, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- At least ten years of experience in developing and deploying unified communications solutions.
- Demonstrated skill in designing, deploying, and configuring session border controllers and managing voice and video gateways.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as SIP, XMPP, MGCP, and RTP.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to document design decisions in written formats.
- Ability to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- A Master's degree in information science and technology, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- At least fifteen years of experience in developing and deploying unified communications solutions.
- Vendor or industry certifications in the operation and management of varied vendor communications technologies.
- Experience in the architecture, design, and implementation of unified communications and online collaboration technologies for commercial and/or government applications.
- Proficiency in media codecs, video and teleconferencing technologies, and conference management and collaboration software.
- Recent knowledge of DoD and/or intelligence community sponsors and programs.
- An active TS/SCI clearance or an active Top Secret security clearance with a SSBI and recent adjudication for SCI access.
