Wireless Communications Engineer Position

We are seeking a skilled Communications Research Engineer to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for researching new technologies and developing solutions to address evolving threats in wireless communications and networking engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and develop innovative solutions to address complex wireless communications challenges.
  • Collaborate with sponsors to understand and tackle their toughest problems in wireless communications and networking engineering.
  • Work with a variety of technologies, including wired, wireless (RF & optical), line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) links, SATCOM, IP networking, RF systems, protocols, software defined radio (SDR), stealth waveforms, 5G cellular and cognitive radio.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or another technical discipline.
  • At least one year of experience in communications, signal processing or networks systems engineering.
  • Proficiency in communication theory and digital signal processing (DSP), with a solid foundational knowledge of, and experience with, the physical, data link, and media access layers of communication or networking systems.
  • Experience in modeling and simulation of the physical layer with MATLAB, Python, or other languages.
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least five years experience in commercial and/or government communication and network systems engineering.
  • Recent knowledge of DoD and/or intelligence community, sponsors, and programs.
  • Hold an active TS/SCI w/ Poly clearance.
