Position Overview
As a Junior Land Negotiator, you will be integrated into an asset team within a Business Unit. You will engage in various aspects of land management, including deal negotiation, contract drafting, due diligence, and providing decision support for Land, Commercial, and Business Unit Management. You will analyze lease, contract, and division order ownership with guidance, assess projects within ConocoPhillips Land systems, and support data integrity analysis for both surface and mineral estates.
Additionally, you will receive comprehensive training through hands-on assignments, utilizing the technical skills acquired during your academic journey or previous internships. You will develop both technically and professionally while interacting with colleagues in both office and field settings. A mentor will be assigned to support your career development, and you will collaborate with a recently hired Land Negotiator to facilitate your transition into the corporate environment.
This position may offer the flexibility of a hybrid work model, designed to balance the benefits of in-person engagement with the convenience of remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engagement in negotiations for surface or subsurface agreements, contract drafting, and due diligence.
- Assisting in the acquisition, trading, or divestment of surface or subsurface rights.
- Collaborating with legal counsel on matters such as title clearance for drilling and division order purposes.
- Working alongside various internal departments, including engineering, geology, finance, and accounting.
- Representing ConocoPhillips in interactions with co-owners, mineral owners, surface owners, and governmental entities at all levels.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration with a focus on Energy Commerce, Energy Law, Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management, or a related field.
- Current academic standing: Senior or Graduate student.
- Expected graduation: Fall 2024 or Spring 2025.
- Willingness to work in designated locations.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to foster dialogue for shared understanding and influence outcomes confidently.
- Understanding of key financial and quantitative indicators impacting the business.
- Demonstrated accountability for actions and commitment to resolving significant issues.
