Director of Land Development Job Description

About the Role

Lennar Homes is seeking a highly skilled Director of Land Development to oversee the field operations and personnel of the land development department. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of land development strategies and market trends, as well as the ability to create opportunities that align with the company's goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee projects from permit approvals through construction and final certification, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Develop and manage land development budgets, schedules, and contracts, as well as environmental studies and Geotechnical reports.
  • Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and trade partners to ensure compliance with approved policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Establish relationships with developers, contractors, and approving governing authorities to facilitate project success.
  • Manage entitlement process, site improvement bidding, and bid selection, as well as value engineering during the design process.
  • Exercise initiative and achieve objectives with minimal supervision, while maintaining positive team relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, accounting, finance, or a similar program, or comparable experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in land development, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in computer literacy, including word-processing, spreadsheet analysis, project scheduling, and data management software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and to exercise initiative and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Driver's License and good driving record, as well as valid auto insurance coverage.

Physical and Office/Field Presence Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to operate a motor vehicle, bend, stoop, reach, lift, walk, move, and/or carry equipment in excess of 20 pounds, and have finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
