Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist in Genomics

Position Overview:
This is a permanent role that offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the field of genomics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct complex laboratory tests and analyses following established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with both the Development and Automation Teams to spearhead assay enhancement projects, implement new assay configurations, and perform validations.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring routine preventive maintenance is documented in accordance with SOPs.
- Review and interpret study results, accurately reporting findings in the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
- Independently troubleshoot high-complexity assay issues that may impact test outcomes.
- Perform and document quality control procedures to ensure laboratory standards are met.
- Document corrective actions for any deviations from established performance specifications.
- Report quality and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Train laboratory staff on new procedures and provide guidance to new hires.
- Prepare and qualify reagents necessary for testing in line with approved protocols.
- Supervise unlicensed laboratory personnel during testing phases.
- Draft and review laboratory procedures and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with both laboratory and non-laboratory staff.
- Undertake additional laboratory duties as required.
- Lead initiatives for assay improvements and new configurations.
- Assist laboratory supervisors with administrative tasks and team leadership as needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (Generalist preferred, CGMBS accepted).
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory Science, Clinical Science, or a related discipline.
- At least four years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing laboratory personnel is advantageous.
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and laboratory automation is preferred.
- Excellent computing skills and experience with laboratory automation tools.
