Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced EMS Instructor 2 to join our team at Mercyhealth. As a key member of our education department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality education and training to emergency care providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement course curricula in accordance with state and national guidelines
  • Provide instruction in classroom, laboratory, clinical, and online settings
  • Mentor and supervise novice instructors
  • Teach American Heart Association classes, including BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Document and maintain accurate class records
  • Travel off-site for educational presentations (up to 20% of the time)
Requirements
  • Graduation from a university or community college with a degree or certificate in an emergency care discipline
  • CPR certification within 90 days
  • Two years of experience providing emergency care in the state of Wisconsin at the licensed level
  • Required certifications applicable to training assigned (e.g., State of Wisconsin Licensed Emergency Care Provider, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO, or MD)
  • State of Wisconsin Certified EMS Instructor II or working toward completion preferred
  • Certified American Heart Association Instructor in at least one level (BLS, ACLS, PALS), as applicable
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups
  • Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software, including development of PowerPoints for the classroom
Work Environment

The Special Physical Demands of this position are considered Essential Job Functions. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
