Job Summary

**Job Title:** Food Manufacturing Operator

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a skilled Food Manufacturing Operator to join our team at Balchem. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient processing of food products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follows current safety policies and procedures and production SOPs to process WIP and FP through the screening and packaging stages.
  • Ensures all safety rules and job function-related Production SOPs are followed.
  • Selects proper size screens, measured in mesh or TBC, and checks for dirt and holes.
  • Assembles screens to machines, checking for proper assembly (tight, locking, and caps).
  • Checks the position of the screening equipment so that it is centered under the hopper.
  • Checks the position of drums under the discharge chutes and ensures the correct number of drums are used.
  • Prepares proper drum size with plastic liner.
  • Prepares color-coded labels and tape for drums per standard operating procedure (SOP) for correct product name, product code number, batch number, date, and partial weight (when available).
  • Screens ingredients according to instructions by operating circular vibratory screens, including selecting the correct ingredient, screen size, ensuring that equipment is fully operational, taking test samples at prescribed intervals, and ensuring that products are accurately drummed, weighed, and labeled.
  • Performs material handling duties as needed to maintain Encap production operations by moving material (raws, WIP, and/or FP) to any area (staging, holding, warehouse) as needed.
  • Performs housekeeping duties to maintain equipment and work areas in sanitary condition.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures, including the use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards.
  • Other related duties.
  • Responsible for food safety.
  • Responsible for notifying supervisors of any incidents affecting food safety.
Requirements
  • High School or equivalent education.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Must pass basic skills tests, drug screens, and background checks.
Working Conditions

Continuous physical activity throughout the workday, including climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting (60 lbs.), hearing, talking, repetitive motion, and moving objects (up to 250 lbs.).
