Role Summary:

As a Cardiac Monitoring Specialist, you will be responsible for performing patient care and cardiac monitoring tasks in alignment with our facility's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Continuously monitor and accurately assess patients' cardiac rhythms, promptly reporting any changes to nursing staff.

2. Initiate telemetry monitoring efficiently and accurately.

3. Document rhythm strips upon patient admission and discharge, as well as every four hours or with any rhythm changes.

4. Customize alarm settings for each patient as necessary.

5. Prepare telemetry transmitters and cables for use.

6. Change recorder paper as required.

7. Anticipate and manage telemetry supply needs.

8. Maintain equipment cleanliness following established protocols.

9. Conduct routine patient assessments on telemetry every 24, 48, and 72 hours.

10. Report equipment malfunctions and submit work orders as needed.

11. Assist patients and families in understanding their learning needs and readiness, integrating this into their care plans.

12. Document educational needs and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to implement ongoing education.

13. Explain telemetry monitoring processes and equipment to patients and families throughout treatment.

14. Provide educational materials to enhance patient understanding.

15. Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop effective teaching plans.

16. Ensure that patients and families comprehend discharge instructions.

17. Maintain regular, punctual attendance.

18. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience:

Completion of 50% of the validation profile within the first year and 100% within two years is required. Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course and/or passing the arrhythmia test with a score above 80% within three months of hire is also required.
