Position Overview:

This role is part of the Hawaii Nurses and Healthcare Professionals Bargaining Unit.


Job Summary:

The Clinical Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, coordination, direction, and evaluation of various activities and programs aimed at enhancing patient care outcomes.

This position oversees nursing standards of practice and manages data reporting while coordinating patient care activities and patient education. The coordinator shares responsibility for the quality management program within assigned nursing areas and oversees the education and competency of nursing staff. Additionally, this role involves conducting nurse education and training sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, direct, and evaluate programs and processes to optimize patient care.
  2. Collaborate with healthcare teams to manage resources and ensure quality.
  3. Evaluate existing processes and systems, recommending and implementing necessary improvements.
  4. Take charge of staff education and clinical competency programs for nursing personnel.
  5. Work with nursing managers to create educational programs for patients and their families.
  6. Coordinate professional development and educational activities.
  7. Implement and uphold quality control standards, sharing responsibility for quality management initiatives with nursing managers.
  8. Monitor and assess outcomes related to patient care.
  9. Maintain patient databases and serve as the data systems administrator.
  10. Conduct data processing for procedures and perform data analysis in collaboration with other healthcare providers.
  11. Review and recommend changes to policies and protocols affecting patient care.
  12. Collaborate with various departments on issues impacting patient care.
  13. May provide direct patient care as necessary to maintain clinical expertise and competency.

All services provided must align with the scope of the license and comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or four (4) years of experience in a related field.
  • Registered Nurse License (Hawaii).
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Additional Requirements:

Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in the area of specialization, as well as the capacity to provide culturally sensitive care.
