Education:
No educational substitutions are permitted for specialized experience in this position.

Experience:


Applicants must possess a minimum of one year of specialized experience that is equivalent in complexity and difficulty to the next lower grade level within the organization’s career progression.

This specialized experience must be directly related to correctional programs and should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of correctional methodologies, as well as the ability to effectively engage with inmates and colleagues in a correctional setting.

Additionally, candidates should have experience in performing supervisory or administrative responsibilities successfully.

This includes (1) comprehending the challenges associated with the custody, treatment, training, and release of inmates in correctional facilities, (2) possessing extensive knowledge of an institution's internal policies, programs, regulations, and procedures, and (3) training staff, coordinating activities, evaluating operational performance, and maintaining high standards of work objectives.

Such experience must have been acquired in an administrative capacity or in roles that involved the successful management or assistance in managing an entire correctional program or a significant component of such a program.


Examples of qualifying experience include:
Experience in conducting investigations related to grievances submitted as administrative remedy appeals concerning unit or case management policies and procedures.
Experience in collecting and analyzing statistical data to assess the impact on policies or procedures.
Experience in reviewing draft proposals or program statements and providing constructive feedback or recommendations for approval.

Experience in obtaining, compiling, and disseminating information regarding established policies and procedures to various departments, along with training staff on unit or case management operations.

Credit will be granted for both paid and unpaid experience, where applicable.

To ensure accurate credit, candidates must detail the actual time spent on relevant activities.

Eligibility for consideration will be determined based on responses to application questions.
