Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Services Supervisor to oversee the operations of our Technical Services division at the City of Littleton (Colorado). As a key member of our team, you will provide leadership and supervisory support to our staff, ensuring the efficient and effective management of our library collections and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and support to a team of 4 full-time staff, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, goal-setting, coaching, performance evaluation, conflict resolution, and discipline.
  • Assign work and coordinate staff schedules to ensure seamless operations.
  • Plan and facilitate regular division team meetings to promote collaboration and communication.
  • Oversee the receipt, cataloging, physical processing, and routing of newly-acquired collection materials.
  • Maintain the bibliographic database and related content of our online catalog.
  • Evaluate and refine or eliminate processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Interpret library and city policies for patrons and staff.
  • Work in coordination with the Circulation Supervisor to develop policies and procedures related to the Integrated Library System.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Marmot Library Network and attend or ensure library representation at Union Catalog Committee meetings.
  • Participate on the Library's Leadership Team with the Library Director, Business Support Specialist, and other division supervisors.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Library Science with emphasis in information organization and/or library systems management.
  • Five (5) years of work experience in a public library, including two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience in a public library.
  • Ability to grow and develop subordinate staff, mediate and resolve conflict, and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate information into effective written materials.
  • Effective records management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment to perform work tasks and retrieve information.
Working Environment and Physical Activities

This role requires frequent lifting and carrying of containers of books weighing up to 50 pounds, retrieving books and pamphlets from bookshelves at heights ranging from one foot to seven feet, and occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching to retrieve library materials.
