A Surgical Technologist works as a vital part of a surgical team in Operating Rooms and Labor and Delivery units. They provide crucial support to surgeons, preparing for surgery, passing instruments, and providing necessary supplies. This role typically works in a hospital and/or outpatient clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile environment
  • Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons as needed
  • Help maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Optional certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NBSTSA)
