About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at UNC Rex Healthcare. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and registered nurses in the operating room, maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Participate in the planning and setup of instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes.
  • Assist in the proper identification, preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens.
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic technique, identifying and reporting any contamination or breaks in technique.
  • Participate in the intraoperative implementation phase of nursing practice, assisting the registered nurse as needed.
  • Operate complex equipment and other resources in the operating room, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Assist in the inventory, receipt, and storage of supplies under the direction of Surgical Services leadership.
  • Identify and report defective instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist in restocking operating/procedure rooms and sub-sterile areas.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program, or equivalent experience.
  • 0-3 years of experience as a surgical technologist.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service relations.
  • Excellent organizational and priority setting skills.
