About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at UNC Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and registered nurses in the operating room, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe and that equipment functions properly.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, adhering to aseptic technique and sterile procedures.
  • Participate in the planning and setup of instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes, ensuring optimal accessibility during procedures.
  • Assist in the identification, preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, including patient information and surgical counts.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in surgical technology.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing situations.
