Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Chief Flight Instructor to join our team at Louisiana Tech University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate aviation classroom courses, conducting flight instruction, advising students, and assisting with curriculum development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate aviation classroom courses, including lectures, discussions, and hands-on training
  • Conduct flight instruction in the flight education program, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment
  • Advise students on academic and career goals, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Assist with planning, development, and revision of flight and ground school course curricula, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices
  • Engage in research and professional service within the guidelines of the University and as determined by the Department Chair
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in aviation or a related field
  • Current CFI-A/CFI-I certification
  • Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
  • No history of FAA certificate enforcement action
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing conditions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in aviation or a related field
  • Current AGI/IGI/MEI certification
  • Prior experience as a 14 CFR Part 141 flight instructor
  • Experience with collegiate aviation accreditation through the Aviation Accreditation Board International
