Chief Flight Instructor

The Department of Professional Aviation at Louisiana Tech University is seeking a highly qualified Chief Flight Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate aviation classroom courses, conducting flight instruction, advising students, and assisting with curriculum development.

• Teach undergraduate aviation classroom courses, including lectures, discussions, and hands-on training
• Conduct flight instruction in the flight education program, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment
• Advise students on academic and career goals, providing guidance and support throughout their academic journey
• Assist with planning, development, and revision of flight and ground school course curricula, ensuring alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements
• Engage in research and professional service within the guidelines of the University and as determined by the Department Chair

• Bachelor's degree in aviation or a related field
• Current CFI-A/CFI-I certification
• Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
• No history of FAA certificate enforcement action
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing conditions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task, collect information, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions

• Master's degree in aviation or a related field
• Current AGI/IGI/MEI certification
• Prior experience as a 14 CFR Part 141 flight instructor
• Experience with collegiate aviation accreditation through the Aviation Accreditation Board International
