Neurosurgery Spine APP

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Neurosurgery team at NorthShore University HealthSystem. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neurosurgery and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients with spinal pathology, including rounding, managing inpatient services, and assisting in the operating room.
- Collaborate with physicians and other APPs to direct medical care and develop comprehensive care plans.
- Serve as a specialty area expert and consultant to staff, patients, families, and operational teams in various clinical specialties, including cranial neurosurgery, spinal neurosurgery, endovascular neurosurgery, head and neck/otolaryngology surgery, neurooncology, and neurocritical care.
- Perform routine diagnostic, therapeutic, and invasive surgical procedures, as well as prepare and record patient history and physical examinations.
- Develop inpatient and outpatient care plans, participate in post-procedure follow-up, and write orders for appropriate medical care.
- Act as first or second assist in the operating room and serve as an expert clinician and patient advocate within the specialty.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to provide optimal patient care and participate in program improvement teams and educational program development.
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Current Illinois Physician Assistant license or Illinois nursing license and Advance Practice Nursing license.
- Prescriptive authority and controlled substance licensure as needed.
- Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or American Nurses Credentialing Center.
- Minimum 1-year recent acute care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
The APP will work in an inpatient/hospital, office/clinic, operating room, and classroom environment. The primary location is United States-Illinois-Arlington Heights.
