About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Hospital Coder to join our team at Seattle Children's. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Abstract relevant and accurate diagnosis and procedural codes from hospital case types, including outpatient clinics, emergency department, surgical cases, observation, infusion, imaging, and professional billing.
  • Utilize hospital encoding systems and resources to effectively collect and interpret data.
  • Resolve coding validation and claim edits based on regulatory and compliant processes.
  • May be responsible for working account problems in EPIC, researching denials, or reviewing family complaints related to coding.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associates Degree or two years of college coursework in Health Information Management or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience as a Seattle Children's Apprentice Hospital Coder.
  • Current certification in RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCS-P from AHIMA, or CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, CPMA from AAPC.
