Job Summary

HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician PRN to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory services, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic testing and expertise to support patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality control procedures.
  • Collaborate with medical technologists, supervisors, and medical director to review and interpret clinical laboratory data, providing expert guidance and recommendations.
  • Complete all required records and documentation, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient results.
  • Perform stat procedures, timed studies, and routine tests within established turnaround time targets, ensuring efficient and effective laboratory operations.
  • Review pending logs and result logs, resolving any outstanding workload or communicating with staff relief as needed.
  • Perform quality control procedures per protocol and complete necessary documentation, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Take corrective action when patient, control, standard, calibration, and/or proficiency results are not within acceptable guidelines.
  • Assist the supervisor in meeting department regulatory agency requirements, including CAP and other relevant standards.
Requirements
  • A 2-Year/Associate Degree in Science is required.
  • A State of Florida Technician License or the ability to obtain a license during the interview process.
  • ASCP or similar certification is highly desirable.
