Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our team at UIC Alaska. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager with the overall direction, coordination, and execution of specific projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Implementation: Assist the Project Manager with planning and implementing multiple projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.
  • Contract Management: Assist the Project Manager with contracts and negotiations, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
  • Project Reporting and Tracking: Track project reports, including daily reports, labor reports, submittals, equipment utilization, schedules, projections, and activity progress, budget versus actual reports.
  • Take-Offs and Quantity Calculations: Perform take-offs for estimating or during project execution by calculating dimensions, square footage, or calculating material quantities.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Assist with project quality control, including the testing of soils for adequacy and conformance, as well as materials meeting the project specifications.
  • Work Planning and Scheduling: Create, plan, and update work plans for various activities, track project deliverables using appropriate tools, and provide direction and support to project team members.
  • Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and report on progress of project to appropriate parties, present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions, and implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
  • Project Evaluations and Assessment: Consolidate and analyze historical data and assist with estimating on future projects, and inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with environmental and safety codes, or other regulations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: One or two years of experience in heavy civil construction or two or more years of training in engineering-related fields such as civil engineering or construction management.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Heavy Job Daily Field Reporting Software, Submittal Registers and Submittal Process, Heavy Bid Estimating and Heavy Job Construction Software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and knowledge of construction materials and practices.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent planning and organizing skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to read and interpret engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings and specifications, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
