Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse to join our team at Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego. As a Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill children with cardiovascular conditions.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients with cardiovascular conditions, including those requiring mechanical ventilation, multiple monitors, and EKG interpretation.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Monitor and manage patients' vital signs, medication, and treatment plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Current CA RN license.
- 2+ years of experience in CVPICU/CTICU or similar pediatric ICU setting.
- PEDS Cardiac experience, with a focus on cardiac training.
- Heart transplant experience.
- Ability to float between units, with a willingness to adapt to changing patient needs.
- BLS and PALS certifications.
- Experience with ventilators, multiple monitors, and EKG interpretation.
We offer a 3x12 variable or straight night shift schedule, with 36x48 available shifts per month. Weekend requirements include 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, with flexibility to work Fri/Sat nights or Sat/Sun shifts. 13-week contracts are available, with requested time off and self-scheduling options.
Unit InformationThe Pediatric Cardiac ICU is a 30-37 bed unit, with a focus on post-op cardiac surgical care, cardiology patients, complex congenital patients, acquired heart disease patients, heart transplantation, VAD's, and ECMO. Patients range from neonatal to 23 years old, with a focus on standard level of nursing practice.
Additional Requirements- Valid photo ID required for onboarding.
- Chemo Certified APHON (required for Hemotology/Oncology).
- TNCC is preferred but not required for ER and Peds ER.
- OR Tech/CST - IAHCSMM (HSPA) or CBSPD is preferred, not required.
