Job Summary

Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) Travel Nurse to join our team. As a PCICU Travel Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to critically ill children with cardiac conditions, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients with cardiac conditions, including those requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive medications, and other life-sustaining therapies.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring that each patient receives comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Monitor and manage patients' vital signs, laboratory results, and other clinical data to identify potential complications and take prompt action to prevent or mitigate them.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure that all parties are informed and engaged in the care process.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Current CA RN license
  • 2+ years of experience in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) or similar setting
  • Experience with pediatric cardiac patients, including those with complex congenital heart defects and post-operative cardiac surgical care
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of autonomy and decision-making responsibility
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Work Schedule
  • 3x12 hour shifts per week, with variable or straight night shifts available
  • 36-48 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime
  • Weekend requirements: 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

  • The PCICU at Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego is a 30-37 bed unit that provides comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients with cardiac conditions.
  • The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and other specialists.
  • The PCICU is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, including mechanical ventilators, vasoactive medication pumps, and other life-sustaining therapies.
